Preparations are already in order for the 14th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival, set to take place on July 14th. With last year’s festival bringing in a record-breaking 6,500 attendees, the village is preparing for another packed year. Mayor Peter Scherer said that last year’s crowd is as large as he would like to see.
The fate of the festival is in the hands of Executive Director Bruce Figler. Although the attendance is making “leaps and bounds,” noted Figler, “sponsorship is stagnant.”
Robert Schwalb lives on Elm Street, near where the festival takes place. At the Village Board meeting October 9, he said he was concerned with crowds “holding him like a prisoner” in his own home. He said the “impact on us as residents is not enjoyable,” and would like to see the police better enforce parking. He asked the board to promise not to be a “do-nothing government.”
Scherer promised that he would take this issue seriously.
