When you think of Playa Bowls, summer breezes, sand between your toes, and clear skies may come to mind. That doesn’t exactly fit the image of Pleasantville, but Playa Bowls is coming, and is expected to open on Bedford Avenue around Thanksgiving.
Owner Anthony Villani is excited to start his new journey with the restaurant. A resident of Pleasantville for 18 years, he said his love for the village prompted him to open the business. Having been the owner of many small businesses, Playa Bowls is a new and exciting endeavor for him, different from anything else he has done. “I like being involved in business,” said Villani. “Opening another was my next step.”
Playa Bowls’ specialties include its famous acai bowls, a smoothie-like mixture rich in antioxidants. The restaurant also serves other nutrient-rich treats such as smoothies, juices, and pitaya and green bowls. Villani is hoping to experiment with outdoor seating to create a spot for customers to relax.
Students of nearby Pace University are patiently waiting for the opening. Kirstin Capasso, a New Jersey native and Playa Bowls enthusiast has applied for a job at the establishment. “I love Playa Bowls for their natural ingredients,” said Capasso. “They make eating healthy interesting!”
