A Pleasantville woman is hoping to be the first Democrat in more than 30 years to be elected to the Mount Pleasant Town Board. Francesca Hagadus is a retired teacher of 32 years who does additional leave replacement work throughout Westchester County. Hagadus has also lived in Pleasantville for more than 25 years.
Choosing to run for a position herself was a natural transition for Hagadus. She has supported past Democratic campaigns including Hillary Clinton’s presidential run. Hagadus assisted on the campaign, such as with phone-banking and canvassing. After the Clinton loss, Hagadus said she woke up the next day and said, “I’ve got to do something, I’ve gotta do more.”
She is now running for the Town Board to make change in her own backyard.
“I’m running as a property owner, a teacher, a mother, a community member, as an activist, and as a union member,” Hagadus said. You can read more information about her platform on her Facebook page.
