Pleasantville Preps for Thanksgiving

The village of Pleasantville prepares for Thanksgiving on Nov. 22.

Thanksgiving is a time for gratitude, bringing people together and feasting on your favorite home cooked meals. As residents in Pleasantville gear up for Thanksgiving we asked them about their plans for the day. “All I do is eat all day, I don’t even help with the cooking,” said resident Brittany Taubman. “I get to just enjoy my family.”

“I’m personally spending Thanksgiving not in my house, but with my family at a restaurant where they do breakfast and brunch,” said resident Kaylee Sherwood. “I think it’s so important that restaurants stay open because sometimes people don’t even cook, or can’t cook for themselves. So when they get to have the meal at a restaurant, it still feels like they are getting the chance to celebrate.”

So where in Pleasantville can residents go if they are like Sherwood and won’t be eating at home?

The Pleasantville Diner will be open on the eve of Thanksgiving from 7 am to midnight, and on Thanksgiving Day from 7 am to 12 pm. Residents can enjoy a special Thanksgiving pre fixe menu filled with Thanksgiving fan favorites.

Another option for residents on Thanksgiving is a restaurant that just opened in March, Southern Table, whose owners also operate the restaurant Wood and Fire. Residents can enjoy a lengthy catering menu with options to accommodate a number of parties.

“We’ve got a lot of positive feedback on our menu. We wanted to bring as a many people to one location as we can and we thought the southern theme fit for Thanksgiving,” said Jordan Johansen, a manager at Southern Table.

“Thanksgiving feels like home at Southern Table. When you think of Thanksgiving you think of eating too much and taking a nap, so we’re trying to bring that comfort to Southern Table.”
