Mount Pleasant Public Library Hosts Fall Book Sale

Friends of The Mount Pleasant Public Library is hosting its fall book sale this weekend. For $6, you can purchase a bag of gently used books. If you have a bag from last year, you may reuse it and only pay $5.

The library hosts two of these events each year. The other one takes place in the spring. The library relies on the book donations from the community in order to make this happen. Two people spend six months sorting the books into organized sections for sale day. When asked about the number of books donated, Marcia Ferrauto, a Friends representative stated, “you’ll see if you want to come, it’s thousands, thousands.”

Money raised from the book sales goes back into the library. According to Ferrauto, “We usually average around $10,000.” The books they cannot sell are given to charitable organizations near the Pleasantville community.

If you cannot make it to the sale this weekend, you have two last shots on Monday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On these days you will be able to pay $10 and get all you want from the remaining books that didn’t get taken home that weekend. The Mount Pleasant Public Library is located at 350 Bedford Rd, Pleasantville, NY 10570.
