The Village Bookstore launches first website

The Village Bookstore, a 47-year fixture in Pleasantville, is now online. Launching a website was a goal since Jennifer Kohn became the bookstore’s owner last year.

A resident of Pleasantville for 14 years, Kohn said she regularly browsed the store for gifts for her three sons before becoming its owner.

“I always enjoyed chatting with neighbors and strangers about books. The intersection of community and discovery is what makes The Village Bookstore and really all indie bookstores special,” Kohn said.

Kohn believes loyal fans have kept the bookstore thriving since its founding.

“Our customers range from ages 2 to 102,” she said. “On any given day we chat and sell books to people of all ages and walks of life.”

Kohn thanked the Pleasantville community for its support.

“Local businesses survive and thrive because of community support. The Village Bookstore is very lucky to have a loyal and wonderful group of readers who frequent the store. We are very thankful for this community!”

Kohn said she has other improvements in mind for the store, including additional events. “We’ll also be making some physical upgrades to the store,” she said.
