Stick it on the map.<\/p>\n<p>A new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pleasantvillesafestreets.com\/\">website<\/a> is dedicated to road safety concerns in Pleasantville. The site, part of the village&#8217;s Safe Streets Initiative, includes an <a href=\"https:\/\/perkinseastman.mysocialpinpoint.com\/pleasantville-safe-streets\">interactive map<\/a> that allows residents to identify problems in specific areas, as well as potential solutions. Early suggestions have included adding a left turn signal on Broadway at the intersection with Bedford Road; a crosswalk at the intersection of Bedford Road and Tompkins Avenue; and sidewalks along Bear Ridge Road.<\/p>\n<p>The primary focus of Pleasantville&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pleasantville-ny.gov\/2029\/Safe-Streets-for-All-SS4A-Grant\">Safe Streets Initiative <\/a>is around five main corridors:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manville Road (NY-117) &amp; Pleasantville Road (CR 106)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saw Mill River Parkway (NYSDOT) &amp; Grant Street<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bedford Road (CR 27) &amp; Marble Avenue \/ Memorial Plaza<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tompkins Avenue &amp; Sunnyside Avenue, and <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bedford Road (CR 27) &amp; Romer Avenue.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The plan focuses on safety and a more organized streets-and-roads system, including vehicles and pedestrians but also bicyclists, motorists, commercial vehicle operators, and public transportation riders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the winter, DTS Provident Design Engineering conducted a traffic calming study at Nannahagan Road and Ashland Avenue. The study included field observations, automated traffic counts, and possible solutions such as speed humps or curb extensions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both roads lack sidewalks but are frequently used by students walking to and from <\/span>Pleasantville Middle School and Pleasantville High School.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DTS suggested adding sidewalks and crosswalks on parts of Nannahagan Road and Ashland Avenue, as well as installing speed radar for monitoring cars\u2019 speed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other suggestions from DTS included adding parking and changing traffic patterns through the parking lot next to Parkway Field on Hopper Street. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"twitter-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?via=pvillepressny\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Got a traffic concern?
